Basically, for an item to be oversized, its length (longest side) plus girth (the distance completely around the package or object at its widest point perpendicular to its length) is more than 84 inches or weighs 30 lbs. or more. For example a box that is 17 inches by 17 inches by 17 inches is oversized. For perspective,  a box that would hold a 17" computer monitor would be right at the max of size before being oversized. If the items that you are ordering are larger than a 17 inch computer monitor, your order is probably oversized. Obviously tables, chairs and most large furniture is oversized or so large that they have to ship by freight truck, in these instances, the free shipping promotion does not apply.

We do not up-charge or charge handling fees on our orders, we only charge you what the freight companies charge us. In fact, we even discount the freight charges when we are able.

This chart shows estimated shipping times from our Alabama warehouse. Most smaller items come from this warehouse and depending on stock levels, usually ship out within 1-2 business days. Furniture such as tables and chairs ship factory direct from either Arizona, Texas or New Jersey depending on the manufacturer. Lead time for furniture is usually 10-15 business days before shipping as most are made to order.

FOB - Freight Outbound: This refers to items that are too large for UPS to handle and have to ship by one of the various freight companies. Items such as table that is more than 48" in length or most pieces of furniture would have to be shipped via FOB. Freight charges are determined by the weight and size of the items, distance from the warehouse and whether the shipment is being delivered to a commercial or residential address. Most freight companies have a minimum freight charge no matter how many items are on the truck. Sometimes the shipping for 1 table will be the same as the shipping for 5 tables depending on the minimum charges.

Ways to minimize freight charges:

1. Choose items that will ship from the same warehouse. For example, choose chairs and tables from the same manufacturer and the shipment will go onto the same truck. When ordered from different manufacturers, more trucks will have to be used and thus more freight charges will be involved.

2. Have items shipped to a commercial address. Most freight companies charge a $40 or more fee over their normal freight charges for residential deliveries. Usually it entails the trucking company having to more the items from a large semi to a smaller one to get it into your neighborhood and thus the extra handling fees. Also remember, that freight shipments are delivered to the curb only. You will need to arrange to have help getting your large items into your business or home.
